Valve are upping-the-ante on the competitive elements of their fan-favourite strategy game, DOTA2.<\/p>\n

Through monitoring the antics of typical DOTA players, Valve have noticed the community’s love for watching the best players battle it out. To help with this, the latest update will bring Tournament view into the game client.<\/p>\n

Tournament view allows players to watch current and previous matches and tournaments. Players can buy viewing rights (whether it’s for a live or replay match), thereby sharing the money with the original tournament organisers.<\/p>\n

The new viewing addition will be tested out in The Defense tournament, with Valve then rolling out Tournament view for all matches and players.<\/p>\n

Valve assure that this isn’t a step to stop streaming outlets, but rather to offer a richer experience with a lot of different features.<\/p>\n

The second part of the update will add the new Team system, which allows competitive teams to register themselves in order to receive reports and statistics on the team’s performances.<\/p>\n

Information submitted on the team can also be used to highlight a match, such as using the team logo in the map.<\/p>\n

A enhanced Team Matchmaking system will also help players find public matches against other organised teams.<\/p>\n

Once Valve have all the kinks ironed-out, these new features will be unleashed on the public.<\/p>\n
