Ukrainian developer Best Way brought us the impressive RTS Men of War, and now they\u2019re working on something a little different \u2013 a post-apocalyptic action-RPG called Nuclear War.<\/p>\n
The game isn\u2019t set in some distant future, but in the current year of 2012 \u2013 the catch is it\u2019s an alternate reality where the Cuban missile crisis plays out a little differently \u2013 a global nuclear war. This resulted in half the earth\u2019s population being killed and most of the surface being uninhabitable, with the world taking shelter underground.<\/p>\n
You begin the game as a Soviet officer in the underground capital of Pobedograd. The war ended 50 years ago, and you go to the surface only to find it\u2019s a wasteland overrun with \u201canomalies and mutants\u201d, with a bald-headed guy in a fancy wheelchair nowhere in sight.<\/p>\n
The game will be mostly played above ground with an open-world exploration feel, presumably while battling these \u201cmutants\u201d. You can acquire two companions to fight with you, who you control with issued commands. When not pausing to give commands, the game\u2019s combat will be in third-person real-time.<\/p>\n
Disappointing news for the sinister types, the usual moral choice gambit will be included but Best Way insists \u201cyou\u2019ll definitely never join forces of evil\u201d.<\/p>\n
The game will be a PC exclusive and is due out sometime in 2013, with the publisher also aiming for a Steam release.<\/p>\n
