{"id":4051,"date":"2009-06-30T11:25:00","date_gmt":"2009-06-30T09:25:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"amd-not-worried-about-larrabee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/hardware\/4051-amd-not-worried-about-larrabee","title":{"rendered":"AMD not worried about Larrabee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AMD&rsquo;s Senior Vice President of platforms, Rick Bergman, told <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theinquirer.net\/inquirer\/news\/1432013\/amd-svp-weighs-graphics-competition\" target=\"_blank\">The Inquirer<\/a> in an interview that AMD is not particularly worried about Intel&rsquo;s entry into the graphics card market next year with Larrabee.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about Intel&rsquo;s entry into the GPU market, Bergman answered &#8220;I don&#8217;t know what Larrabee is yet, so we&#8217;re not waiting around.&#8221; indicating that AMD is going ahead with its DX 11 40nm plans regardless of what Intel does.<\/p>\n<p>Bergman went on with &#8220;Intel&#8217;s a big company and at some juncture they may do graphics right,&#8221; adding &#8220;we haven&#8217;t seen them demonstrate that capability yet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the same interview Bergman stated that AMD is not interested in going into a price war with Nvidia. &#8220;Are we interested in winning share by losing money on every GPU we ship? No,&#8221; said Bergman when asked if AMD would consider undercutting Nvidia with pricing at the low end of the market, a segment that Nvidia is still strong in.<\/p>\n<p>Bergman&rsquo;s comments indicate that AMD is quite happy with its market share at the moment.
