A new report claims that all of Activision\u2019s handheld and mobile Call of Duty games in the future will be developed by Activision\u2019s new Leeds studio. This news comes from UK video game industry expert Andy Payne, who says Activision will no longer use different developers for each mobile game, but have Activision Leeds handle all of it here on out.<\/p>\n
Leeds was only set up very recently by the mega-publisher, but according to Payne all the studios who develop the various Call of Duty titles work in collaboration, reusing and exchanging each other\u2019s assets. Now that Leeds is heading up mobile development, they will have all these assets at their disposal.<\/p>\n
Payne explained, \u201cThe two studios are saying, ‘I need a tank, pull it off from the library’. And those assets are also going to be starting to be used by the mobile team, which is going to be based in Leeds.\u201d<\/p>\n
The next mobile Call of duty game slated for release is Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified for the PS Vita, which was announced at E3 this year. Despite the fact that we do not yet know who\u2019s at the helm of Declassified\u2019s development, it\u2019s highly unlikely Activision Leeds is involved since the studio was only created in May, and the Vita release is set for later this year. Activision can produce an FPS faster than most, but even that is pushing it.<\/p>\n
Most previous mobile Call of Duty games were developed by n-Space, who were behind the DS versions of Call of Duty 4, Black Ops, Modern Warfare 2 and World at War. The two iOS zombie releases however, Black Ops Zombies and World at War Zombies, were developed by Ideaworks.<\/p>\n
