While Minecraft’s goal isn’t really to recreate accurate particle effects and physics, a modder wanted to liven up the water and lighting elements in the block-building game<\/p>\n
Going by the name of Sonic Ether, the modder built the Unbelievable Shaders mod, which adds reflections and shaders to the game, making the water and lighting appear more detailed.<\/p>\n
“This poorly recorded video is meant to demonstrate the advantages and drawbacks to the technique that I developed to trace water reflections in screen space,” Sonic writes.<\/p>\n
It’s not perfect, he notes, but “the overall effect is pleasing and looks vastly better than the solid blue blocks that were vanilla Minecraft’s water.”<\/p>\n
Minecraft players can download the mod from Sonic Ether’s Facebook page, although he mentions that it isn’t bug-free and should be installed with caution.<\/p>\n
