PC exclusives are becoming a rare phenomena in the gaming industry, with very few publishers choosing to isolate certain games to the desktop platform. The console market long ago outgrew the PC gaming market, and it does not make sense for developers to cut out the majority portion of the gaming public.<\/p>\n
That said, the PC does still dominate one significant corner of the gaming market, and that is the strategy\/management sector. It is no surprise then that most of the best rated PC exclusives are strategy based, or some derivative thereof.<\/p>\n
2009’s highest rated PC exclusives according to Metacritic.com<\/strong><\/p>\n 1. Empire: Total War 90% Notable mentions <\/strong> Metacritic is an aggregating website which takes scores awarded to games by a range of different publications and averages them to award a ‘Metacritic score’.<\/p>\n The list includes a few surprise entries, such as Time Gentlemen, Please! which is an offbeat and highly enjoyable game from independent developer Zombie Cow Studios<\/a>.<\/p>\n DCS BlackShark is another relatively unknown title. Black Shark is the first entry into the Digital Combat Simulator series by Flying Legends.<\/p>\n Of course there are the predictable entries, such as Empire: Total War, Dawn of War II and The Sims 3. We are particularly pleased to see Anno 1404 and Eve Online: Apocrypha doing well on the list.<\/p>\n While it does not quite match up to the AAA prowess of console exclusive lists which include Halo 3, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Uncharted, and Gears of War, PC gamers – especially strategy\/management fans – have plenty to be grateful for in terms of exclusive releases.<\/p>\n
