Discussions of 3D in their games was noticeably absent from Sony at both E3 and Gamescom, leaving people to wonder where the enthusiasm of the last couple of years has gone. Sony was previously incredibly enthusiastic about incorporating 3D, so the lack of any attention to it at all in their presentations was conspicuous.<\/p>\n
However, according to Jim Ryan, CEO of Playstation Europe, there isn\u2019t much significance to it.<\/p>\n
“I wouldn’t read too much into its omission. We spoke about it at E3 two years ago and everyone put their glasses on for the first time, and the next year we did the same and everyone did it again. Y’know, there comes a time when you don’t need to talk about it anymore,” the executive added. “Don’t read into the fact too much that we haven’t announced anything about 3D.”<\/p>\n
Credit to a renewed interest in 3D is given to Avatar, spawning a whole wave of horrible 3D movies we\u2019re forced to endure, and pay a premium for. 3D TVs saw a big push, but haven\u2019t gained much traction, and it\u2019s questionable whether or not people are even interested in home 3D.<\/p>\n
