Most modern games take between 8 and 15 hours to complete in full. Of course this is dependent on the genre, and does not take into account things like replay-ability and multiplayer. At a stretch most longer games will offer around 50 hours of gameplay, and of course multiplayer titles such as World of Warcraft and most first-person-shooters will offer endless online playability.<\/p>\n
However, it is not often that a single player campaign offers more than 50 hours of potential unique gameplay.<\/p>\n
According to BioWare studio chief Ray Muzyka, Dragon Age: Origins will offer gamers over 120 hours of gameplay time. Muzyka stated at GamesCom last week that he spent 120 hours on one play-through that encompassed about 90 percent of the game.<\/p>\n
“I couldn’t wait to come home” added Muzyka, going on to elaborate “After about ten hours of gameplay, every day I was talking about coming home and I played it for two or three hours, or whatever time I had free, and play it to the early hours.”<\/p>\n
“Luckily I don’t sleep as much as my wife. I’d stay up till after midnight and play it after she was asleep.”<\/p>\n
Dragon Age has been billed as the spiritual successor to Balder’s Gate, and the developer is responsible for a number of other highly rated RPGs such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights and most recently Mass Effect.<\/p>\n
The game is planned for release in early November 2009 on PC and Xbox 360, and on PS3 later in the month.<\/p>\n
