Sony has announced that two of its most critically acclaimed PS2 titles are being ported to PS3.<\/p>\n
The first game, God of War, holds a Metacritic rating of 94% and the follow up is close behind with 93%. With the third God of War game currently in development, Sony has seen fit to re-release the original games for current generation hardware. The games will be released in single Blu-ray disk format and will be rebuilt to run at a resolution of 1280×720, also referred to as 720p. 720p is the modern standard which almost all PS3 and Xbox 360 games run at.<\/p>\n
At the time of their release both games were praised for their excellent visuals, and an HD upgrade should finally bring the aging franchise into the current generation. The games will also run at 60 frames per second and feature anti-aliasing.<\/p>\n
Bluepoint Games has been charged with the responsibility of porting the games to modern hardware.
The release is part of a broader marketing campaign with the intent to build up awareness and anticipation for God of War 3 which is due out in March 2010. God of War 3 has been billed by Sony as the final God of War game.<\/p>\n
Gamers will be able to purchase both God of War and God of War II on a single Blu-ray disk for $40(R320), although it is likely that the price will significantly higher in SA.<\/a><\/p>\n
