Peter Molyneux\u2019s latest foray into strange games, Curiosity, has had to be renamed. The game which centers around chipping away at a large black cube to get to the mind-blowing revelation inside has now been given the highly original name of Curiosity: What\u2019s in the Cube.<\/p>\n
The game had to be renamed due to NASA\u2019s Mars rover, Curiosity, which recently successfully landed and has been somewhat of a media sensation.<\/p>\n
The 22 Cans\u2019 project was supposed to launch this week, but has now been delayed to September (although whether or not this is related to the name is unknown).<\/p>\n
Molyneux announced the name change via Twitter, saying, “After hours of posting, collating office discussions, asking advice from the press the consensus is… Curiosity: What’s in the Cube.”<\/p>\n
Attempting to lighten the mood of the humdrum name, he joked, “Not what I voted for but ho hum. I wanted to call it ‘Cube of Duty’.<\/p>\n
“Logic and common sense has won out. Thank you all so much for your suggestions. Some truly inspired posts,” he added.<\/p>\n
Curiosity puts players in a room with a pickaxe, working together to slowly wear down a giant cube. Eventually the cube will break, revealing something \u201ctruly amazing\u201d and \u201cabsolutely unique\u201d (in Molyneux\u2019s words), but the only person who will get to see this is the one who delivers the final cube-breaking tap.<\/p>\n
If you think this sounds like the least amount of fun to be had playing a video game, you\u2019re not alone.<\/p>\n
