A South African roll-out of iTunes is in the works and users may be able to get music from Apple\u2019s digital storefront using a South African iTunes account as soon as next month.<\/p>\n

This is according to Yoel Kenan, founder and CEO of Africori, a licensing platform for African music.<\/p>\n

In his 20-odd years in the music industry, Kenan has headed up MP3.com Europe, and worked for companies like Universal and Sony BMG.<\/p>\n

Kenan said that he is not involved with iTunes, though they do aggregate music content to Apple\u2019s popular music service.<\/p>\n

According to Kenan, he heard about the South African plans for iTunes from an internal source.<\/p>\n

Asked about the launch of iTunes in SA, Core Group, local distributor for Apple products, said:<\/p>\n

There has been no announcement from Apple and we have no further information.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Queried directly, Apple said that it does not comment on rumours or speculation.<\/p>\n
