A fair chunk of the Guild Wars 2 community has reported unauthorized attempts to access their accounts, typically by means of password resets. Users have been receiving \u201cpassword reset verification\u201d e-mails, when they themselves didn\u2019t ask for a reset.<\/p>\n
Some aspirational hackers are also said to be phishing, by sending e-mails asking for login and account details for active Guild Wars 2 players.<\/p>\n
ArenaNet suggests simply ignoring the password-reset e-mails, and as for phishing attempts, do not reply to these. Keep in mind ArenaNet staff will never ask for your password.<\/p>\n
If you want to be extra-cautious, consider changing your e-mail and account details.<\/p>\n
Despite the hacking issues, Guild Wars 2 is off to a strong start. Prior to launch, NCsoft saw a record-breaking 400,000 concurrent players who were playing the game early through their Headstart Access option, with over one million pre-purchases.<\/p>\n
