Whether or not the alleged Steam Box is actually a thing, it&#8217;s obvious Valve has now planning to make <em>something<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Valve is traditionally a software company. Open platforms like the PC and Mac are important to us, as they enable us and our partners to have a robust and direct relationship with customers,&#8221; reads the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.valvesoftware.com\/jobs\/job_postings.html\" target=\"_blank\">job ad<\/a>. &#8220;We\u2019re frustrated by the lack of innovation in the computer hardware space though, so we\u2019re jumping in. Even basic input, the keyboard and mouse, haven\u2019t really changed in any meaningful way over the years. There\u2019s a real void in the marketplace, and opportunities to create compelling user experiences are being overlooked.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sounds more like peripherals than an entire system or console of some sort, doesn&#8217;t it? If anybody&#8217;s going to do a talking turret, it&#8217;d be Valve. What does a talking turret have to do with hardware innovation? Only everything. Imagine all the cool stuff you could do with a talking turret?
