After dealing with the inevitable influx of Half-Life 3s, 9\/11 simulators, and other hilarious<\/em> “jokes”<\/a>, Valve has now levied a $100 submission fee for all projects posted on Steam Greenlight. This is why we can have nice things.<\/p>\n

“Two things we’ve noticed so far. First, there are a ton of legitimate submissions that people want to see. Second, there is unfortunately a significant amount of noise and clutter being submitted, either as a joke or by fans not fully understanding the purpose of Greenlight,” said a company rep on the official Steam Greenlight announcements blog.<\/p>\n

“We have no interest in making money from this, but we do need to cut down the noise in the system.”<\/p>\n

The cash will be donated to Child’s Play charity, so it’s not only making a difference in your life, but it’s also making a difference in other lives too. Everybody wins, except maybe erotic game developers<\/a>.<\/p>\n
