Last night Infinity Ward unveiled the multiplayer component of the much anticipated Modern Warfare 2 at an event in LA.
A number of interesting gameplay details emerged, with journalists getting hands-on time with the game.<\/p>\n
Some of the new features demonstrated included:<\/p>\n
Customizable killstreaks<\/strong><\/p>\n Players will be able to choose which killstreak bonuses they want enabled, with unlockable streaks being introduced in a similar fashion to how Modern Warfare features unlockable perks, weapons and add-ons. As in Modern Warfare, players will be granted the UAV (radar) after 3 kills. Four kills will earn players a ‘care package’ which can either consist of extra ammo or a random killstreak bonus. Eleven consecutive kills unlocks the much hyped AC-130 gunship.<\/p>\n Customizable callsigns<\/strong><\/p>\n Players will be able to choose their own callsign as well as rank emblems. Unlockable emblems will become available as players progress allowing for a deeper level of ID customization.<\/p>\n Gameplay tweaks<\/strong><\/p>\n Apart from an obvious technical overhaul, Modern Warfare 2 will feature a number of minor changes to the basic gameplay. Small touches have been made to the game, such as improved and more detailed animations and punchier cues when players make kills.<\/p>\n Players will now be able to see their multiplayer group leader highlighted on the in-game minimap. Console host migration has also been improved, so that when connection errors occur another host is automatically allocated and the game continues.
