{"id":44487,"date":"2012-09-11T14:40:44","date_gmt":"2012-09-11T12:40:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=44487"},"modified":"2012-09-11T14:54:25","modified_gmt":"2012-09-11T12:54:25","slug":"molyneuxs-curiosity-seeks-open-beta-participants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/44487-molyneuxs-curiosity-seeks-open-beta-participants","title":{"rendered":"Molyneux&#8217;s Curiosity wants you for the open beta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Industry luminary, Peter Molyneux has been hard at work with his new indie studio 22 Cans to deliver their first project, which is actually a bit of a concept game named &#8220;Curiosity &#8211; What&#8217;s inside the Cube&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The game&#8217;s premise is quite literal &#8211; players will have pickaxes which they will use to collectively chip away at an immense black cube, made up of 60 million other cubes. The mystery lies at the centre of the cube, waiting to be uncovered.<\/p>\n<p>The destruction of the cube will be a team effort \u2013 Molyneux claims the game allows for up to a million players chipping away at the block at the same time. There isn\u2019t much more info on what actually happens in the game aside from manual labour.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/b72HoQSQmEk\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Molyneux, however, always with a flair for drama, says the center of the cube &#8220;is so valuable and so life-changingly important&#8221;; going on to say &#8220;It\u2019s so amazing I think it will appear on news reports, though it&#8217;s not a dead cat, by the way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps most interestingly, despite up to a million people being able to put in some hard time, only one person will actually be able to \u201cunlock the mystery\u201d at the centre of the cube. How this person is chosen or why there can only be one has not been revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Additional tools will be sold via microtransactions, and in true Molyneux style there will be a diamond pickaxe on sale for US$50,000, although Molyneux insists this is \u201cnothing to be ashamed of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Curiosity is scheduled for release on iOS, Android and PC.
