Former Arena 77 MD, Len Nery, has announced that the winner of the Quake 3 competition, that is taking place at rAge next weekend, will be sent to compete at the Quake Live Competition at Dreamhack in Sweden at the end of November.<\/p>\n
The winner’s flight, accommodation and competition entry fee is being sponsored by virus protection provider AVG. Players finishing in the top 15 of the tournament will take home a share of R100,000 worth of prizes sponsored by Intel, Sapphire and ATi.<\/p>\n Players do not have to attend the LAN to play, and anyone with a visitors pass or LAN ticket can enter freely as long as they are registered with LANgames<\/a>.<\/p>\n Players do not even need to bring computers to enter the competition, as all matches will be played on sponsored machines.<\/p>\n Entrants will however be allowed to bring their own keyboard, mouse, headphones and mouse pad to play on.<\/p>\n The Dreamhack event will see players competing in QuakeLive, a browser based version of Quake 3. For this reason, the Quake 3 tournament is being played on settings very similar to those used in Quake Live.<\/p>\n
The Quake 3 tournament, that is to take place at rAge this year, was announced<\/a> by Arena 77 earlier this month. The tournament will kick off on Friday at rAge. Originally planned as a free-for-all random draw competition, the event will now feature player seeding which will be decided in consultation with the competitive gaming community.<\/p>\n
