{"id":4501,"date":"2009-09-25T11:15:00","date_gmt":"2009-09-25T09:15:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"wii-price-cut-official","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/4501-wii-price-cut-official","title":{"rendered":"Wii price cut official"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Update<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Local Wii distributor Core has announced that the South African Wii price will be reduced to R2500.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mygaming.co.za\/news\/News\/4506-New-Local-Wii-price-confirmed.html\" target=\"_self\"> New Local Wii Price Confirmed<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Original<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The last few weeks have seen various rumors circulating suggesting that Nintendo will soon be cutting the price of the Wii console.<\/p>\n<p>Recently an image appeared which unofficially <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mygaming.co.za\/news\/News\/4448-Wii-price-getting-cut-USD200.html\" target=\"_self\">confirmed<\/a> the imminent price cut in the USA from $250 (R1900) to $200 (R1500).<\/p>\n<p>Nintendo yesterday announced that the Wii will have its price reduced by $50, and that the new $200 price tag will take effect as of this Sunday, September 27.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, from what we can gather at this point, the price cut will only be implemented in the USA. Instead of a price cut, PAL territories will reportedly receiving a new Wii console bundle.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from the current standard features that come with the regular Wii package, the new bundle will include the addition of Wii Sports Resort and Wii Motion Plus according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/articles\/uk-wii-bundle-instead-of-price-cut\" target=\"_blank\">Eurogamer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As usual, Nintendo has declined to comment on what it calls rumor and speculation.<\/p>\n<p>The new bundle will retain its &euro;250 (R2750) price tag which means that South African&rsquo;s can expect to continue to pay around the R3500 mark for the console locally.
