Left 4 Dead 2 developer Valve announced today that it will appeal the Australian judgement that the game is too violent to be released in that country.<\/p>\n
Last week the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification ruled that the zombie co-operative first person shooter was too graphic due to “frequent and intense depictions of violence” and “graphic depictions of blood and gore.”<\/p>\n
Subsequently the panel chose to ban the game from retail in Australia without giving it an age rating. Despite this the original Left 4 Dead was released in Australia with an MA15+ rating – the highest in the country and equivalent to a South African restriction of 18.<\/p>\n
With the announcement of the appeal Valve also revealed some of the ratings that the game has already been awarded internationally. These include an 18+ rating in Germany, Singapore, Korea and South Africa.<\/p>\n
Left 4 Dead 2 is due to be released on Xbox 360 and PC on the 17th of November and will feature a cast of four new survivors as well as a number of new weapons such as frying pans and cricket bats.<\/p>\n
