One of the original masterminds behind the incredibly popular Half Life Mod, Counter-Strike, has announced that he is working on a brand new team-based multiplayer tactical-shooter.<\/p>\n
Minh Le originally joined Valve back in 2000 after the mod earned its self a cult like global following. Le reportedly worked on Counter-Strike 2 for some time, but the game apparently “never really got off the ground” and was “put on the shelf” according to IGN<\/a>.<\/p>\n Le then left Valve and began working on a new game in his parents basement. He then managed to secure funding from South Korean IT company FIX Korea to develop a game that is now known as Tactical Intervention.<\/p>\n The game is apparently a new take on the terrorists vs. counter-terrorists gameplay that made Counter-Strike so popular.<\/p>\n “I enjoyed Counter-Strike, but I wanted to have my own game,” said Le. “I was never able to put in all the cool features I wanted because the people who played Counter-Strike would [complain] about all the changes. They liked the game as it is.”<\/p>\n Tactical Intercention is apparently based on a heavily modified version of Valve’s Source engine and will address a number of gripes Le had with the original. “I hated how powerful snipers were in Counter-Strike. They really unbalanced the game.” Said Le, who included camping and ‘lengthy rounds’ in his list of problems to address.<\/p>\n Beta testing on the game will begin soon, and a release is planned for later this year.<\/p>\n
