As part of the run up to the big games release in mid-November, developer Valve has finally released more information regarding a new multiplayer mode in Left 4 Dead 2.<\/p>\n
Known as ‘Scavenge’, the mode combines Left 4 Dead’s Survival and Versus modes and will involve two teams.<\/p>\n
The first, dubbed as the survivors, are tasked with retrieving fuel canisters and using them to fill up power generators while the second takes control of a team of ‘special infected’ and attempts to stop the survivors from carrying out their mission.<\/p>\n
Sixteen canisters of fuel appear each round and the goal is to use as many of them as possible before the round ends. Each round begins with a 120 second timer with 20 seconds added for each canister used, reports Shack News.<\/a><\/p>\n The canisters will not be impervious to damage. If shot at they will explode, and the other team will also be able to detonate them at certain points.<\/p>\n One match is made up of three rounds, with each team having the chance to play as the survivors. The team that wins two of three rounds wins the match, if there is a tie in the number of canisters used the team with the lowest recorded time wins.<\/p>\n Intitially Left 4 Dead 2 will include 6 ‘Scavenge’ maps upon its release in November. Although no official confirmation that this number will be increased has yet been given, Valve is known for releasing additional content on a regular basis.<\/p>\n The game will be available on both Xbox 360 and PC.<\/p>\n
