The live-action adaptation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution now has a director to bring the sci-fi story to the big-screen.<\/p>\n

Scott Derrickson will helm the project, which will operate under the production and distribution of CBS Films.<\/p>\n

Derrickson\u2019s work includes the The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Exorcism of Emil Rose, and most recently, Sinister.<\/p>\n

An official synopsis of the film was released:<\/p>\n

“Set in the near future, when dramatic advances in science, specifically\u00a0human augmentation, have triggered a technological renaissance,\u00a0Deus Ex: Human Revolution\u00a0follows\u00a0Adam Jensen, an ex-SWAT security specialist who must embrace mechanical augments in order to unravel\u00a0a global conspiracy.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence,” Derrickson said in a statement. “By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas,\u00a0Deus Ex\u00a0is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie. Cargill and I can’t wait to bring it to the big screen.”<\/p>\n

Derrickson\u2019s Sinister co-writer C. Robert Cargill will help write the script, while Roy Lee and Adrian Askarieh will produce, with John P. Middleton as executive producer.<\/p>\n
