Black Ops 2 has been out less than a week, and already people are starting to grumble about certain weapons being more powerful than others. The whiny chants of \u201coverpowered\u201d are going to be crushed by Treyarch Design Director David Vonderhaar\u2019s mighty intellect however, as he claims he has maths to prove everyone wrong.<\/p>\n
According to the clearly-easily-trolled developer, everyone is going to have plenty of \u201cknowledge bombs\u201d dropped on them, in the form of real statistics and recorded match data.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of instrumentation in this game and there\u2019s a lot of data logging, so I know exactly what the power band of a weapon is at all times,\u201d he said. \u201cSo, I can combine how something feels with how it\u2019s actually behaving. I just know this is going to happen: A million people are going to Tweet me and tell me [for example], \u2018The PDW 57 is overpowered, Vonderhaar. What are you doing?\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat I\u2019ll do is look at the math and say, \u2018Actually, you know what, dude? You\u2019re just good with it. Have fun, because the math says that it\u2019s not overpowered.\u2019 I have the averages. You\u2019re being successful.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vonderhaar wasn\u2019t yet done with the metaphors however. \u201cI\u2019m just going to kill people with facts [with] this game whenever they say \u2018This thing is OP.\u2019 I\u2019m going to go \u2018Actually, it\u2019s not OP, you\u2019re wrong.\u2019 I\u2019m not going to yell at them or anything, I\u2019m just going to tell them the truth. I don\u2019t have to hide this stuff from people, just drop knowledge bombs on guys. It\u2019s gotta be done! What people are doing is reacting emotionally, and I\u2019m like a really emotional guy so I get it.\u201d<\/p>\n
