Reports have surfaced revealing that Activision is once again being sued for the alleged misuse of likenesses in one of its music simulators, namely Band Hero.<\/p>\n
US rock band No Doubt has filed a lawsuit against the company for “ the unauthorized use of the No Doubt’s name and likeness,” and is suing for an injunction that prohibits players from using the members likeness in any songs other than the three No Doubt tracks included in the game.<\/p>\n
The lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles claims that the game “transformed No Doubt band members into a virtual karaoke circus act”. This refers to the game feature through which players can use musician avatars to perform any one of the 60 tracks included in the game reports TMZ<\/a>.<\/p>\n An Activision representative has since responded that the company has a “written agreement to use No Doubt in Band Hero,” and “believes it is within its legal rights with respect to the use and portrayal of the band members in the game”, adding that the lawsuit was “without merit”.<\/p>\n This is not the first time that a lawsuit like this has been filed against Activision. Earlier this year Kurt Cobain widow Courtney Love accused the company of illegally using Cobain’s likeness in songs other than those performed by Nirvana.<\/p>\n
