In news that’s (tragically) unusual enough to actually make headlines, Riot Games has banned a League of Legends pro player for being a constant menace.<\/p>\n
Acknowledging that “the decision to impact someone\u2019s career is not one we make lightly”, a disciplinary hearing<\/a> decided that the community had simply had enough of Dignitas teamster Christian “IWillDominate” Rivera’s serial misbehaviour.<\/p>\n “IWillDominate has been in Tribunal nine times and punished eight times, including the most recent permanent ban. He has a persistent record of in-game harassment, verbal abuse, offensive language and negative attitude,” the ruling found.<\/p>\n “Despite the punishments and official warnings, his harassment score has risen more than 30% from early August to the present date, placing him at the top of the list of North American pro players and among the worst 0.7% of all North American players.”<\/p>\n Rivera’s existing League of Legends accounts have been permanently suspended, and he is ineligible to participate in any official League of Legends Championship Series for one year.<\/p>\n The League of Legends player base has something of a, uh, reputation for bad manners – back in October, Riot Games introduced a new Honor system<\/a> to promote playing nice with others. If you don’t, this is what happens<\/em>.
