Over the weekend, the annual Video Game Awards from Spike TV took place, and there were some surprising (and not so surprising) winners.<\/p>\n
For those who may not know, this is the Oscars of the video game industry, with a board of judges comprised of the most well-known and respected gaming journalists.<\/p>\n
Among the list is Geoff Keighley (Host \/ Executive Producer, SPIKETV); Andy McNamara (Editor in Chief, Game Informer Magazine); Ludwig Kietzmann (Editor in Chief, Joystiq); Jeff Gerstmann (Editor in Chief, Giant Bomb); Justin Calvert (Executive Editor, Gamespot); and Tal Blevins (VP Games Content, IGN Entertainment) just to name a few.<\/p>\n
Samuel L. Jackson returned to host the show, which was also filled with secret game trailers and big announcements<\/a>.<\/p>\n There were some big awards on offer, but obviously the biggest prize is the Game of the Year award.
