Peter Molyneux\u2019s next game, Godus, has surpassed its Kickstarter goal of 450,000 pounds. The Kickstarter closed yesterday at an impressive 526,563, having reached its original goal on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Molyneux\u2019s studio and developer of the game, 22Cans, announced that there would be various goals set for the Kickstarter, with additional features being promised for each funding threshold.<\/p>\n
The total of 526K pounds managed to hit five of these goals, just missing out on the final 550K goal of support for the Ouya.<\/p>\n
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting Godus,” said Molyneux. “Our job is now to work on and complete Godus, the game we’ve fallen in love with, and to make it the game you want to play.”<\/p>\n
Molyneux did what he does best, sending the hype machine into overdrive by describing Godus as an “innovative reinvention of Populous”.<\/p>\n
The game\u2019s description on its Kickstarter page reads, “Godus blends the power, growth and scope of Populous with the detailed construction and multiplayer excitement of Dungeon Keeper and the intuitive interface and technical innovation of Black & White. The original Populous hailed from the 8-bit era but Godus will use the most modern technology the world has to offer.”<\/p>\n
Molyneux\u2019s current project, Curiosity, has been more successful than even he believed it would be. As people all over the world chip away to find what\u2019s in the cube, Molyneux will be focusing his attention on Godus.<\/p>\n
