At this stage they had yet to release Far Cry 2, and the announcement was therefore glossed over by many.

Now, a year later however, the idea of Far Cry 3 is likely to generate far more interest and development is fully underway according to Ubisoft Montreal’s Patrick Redding.

Although Redding is not working on the game himself, he has seen it and had this to say “I know the team are aworking on it and what I’ve seen looks pretty exciting.”

Last year Far Cry 2 narrative designer stated that Far Cry 3 will most probably be set in Africa.

“There are still things we want to do with the African setting, and I think it’s safe to say we’ll continue to explore it,” said Redding, going on to say “That said, we might find something new and compelling about the Antarctic setting that wants us to make the next game there, but honestly, we’re still at the preliminary stages.”

It has also been confirmed that Ubisoft will use a modified version of the Dunia Engine. The Dunia Engine was used for Far Cry 2 and was widely praised for delivering excellent visuals while at the same time running well on entry level gaming PCs.

Ubisoft has not commented on Far Cry 3 in an official capacity, but it is clear that the Montreal studio is working on the game.

Discuss Far Cry 3 in the forums

[2

post-4907","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-business
["GET
