DayZ creator Dean Hall says that he is “angry” about The War Z, which features an uncanny resemblance to his game. Since the announcement of The War Z, there have been non-stop comparisons made between it and Hall\u2019s super-popular mod for ArmA II.<\/p>\n
Hall and the developers of the War Z have had public spats about how they feel about one another\u2019s games, but have kept it mostly civil, until now.<\/p>\n
“I am angry about The War Z. I’m very angry. I’m quite hurt personally because anyone can see how similar the words are, and while the average gamer knows the difference, individual people don’t,” said Hall on a Reddit Q&A.<\/p>\n
Hall went on the say that the confusion between the two games has even caused him personal troubles. “I’ve had family members\/close friends mistake the difference and confront me about what they believed was unethical behaviour they thought I was making.”<\/p>\n
“I really don’t think anyone can understand just quite how exasperated that can make you feel when you’ve gambled everything on something, put your whole self and reputation on the line. So it hasn’t made my life very pleasant and I disagree entirely with the conduct and how consumers have been treated.”<\/p>\n
The dev, who also works for Bohemia Interactive, said that a lot of his frustration lies with the gaming media, who may have influenced the consumers\u2019 decisions negatively.<\/p>\n
“There are many media who were saying how great the game was they ‘played’ in pre-alpha, only to say something completely different a few months later about how terrible the game was. I think that’s the absolute worst.”<\/p>\n
