Valve has worked hard to bring Steam to Linux users, and the fledgling support for the platform includes a small library of games thus far that continues to grow.<\/p>\n

When navigating the Steam website and clicking on the “Install Steam” button, users are redirected to a page where they can grab the Steam client for their platform.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Valve has including a big “Tux the Penguin” logo advertising their support for Linux, and also encourages users to try out Linux-based Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.<\/p>\n

This happens when browsing the website using both Windows- and Mac OS-based web browsers.<\/p>\n

For many Linux gamers life has been hard over the years, and it’s great to see a gaming powerhouse such as Valve pro-actively supporting the Linux platform. Hopefully this will set a trend in the industry and Linux will become a viable gaming platform for the mainstream.<\/p>\n
