Crytek has given the core team of Vigil Games a second wind after the THQ-owned studio went dark following THQ\u2019s bankruptcy.<\/p>\n

Crytek has announced that it will open a new studio in Austin, Texas, that will be comprised of the former Vigil members.<\/p>\n

“Great news for Vigil, at least the core team. Thanks to Crytek for saving as much as they could of a fantastic team,\u201d tweeted THQ president Jason Rubin.<\/p>\n

Rubin also said that although the Vigil team is now with Crytek, the Darksiders IP is yet to be sold off.<\/p>\n

The new studio will go under the name Crytek USA Corp, and Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli believes that the companies powerful graphical engines will help the former Darksiders team.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe our CryEngine technology will enable the team we assemble to create unparalleled new gaming experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vigil Games was founded by comic book artist Joe Madureira. The studio\u2019s first project, Darksiders, was an instant hit, and the sequel, Darksiders II, was released in 2012 to great acclaim.<\/p>\n

Crytek was also working on a sequel to Homefront, which was owned by THQ, but the studio has now also acquired the licence to the Red Dawn-inspired FPS.<\/p>\n
