The Medal of Honor series has been taken\u00a0“out of rotation” following the underwhelming reception and sales of the series’ most recent entry, Medal of Honor: Warfighter.<\/p>\n

Announced at an EA financial call, the franchise will be put on the sidelines, as EA continues to focus on things that, well, make money.<\/p>\n

“The game was solid, but the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers,” EA COO Peter Moore said. “Critics were polarized and gave the game scores which were, frankly, lower than it deserved. This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of the rotation and have a plan to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings.”<\/p>\n

Medal of Honor: Warfighter’s reception had a notable impact on the companies third-quarter financial results: How much money did EA make in the holiday period?<\/a><\/p>\n

“Medal of Honor\u00a0didn’t\u00a0deliver and we underestimated the overall softness in the console packaged goods sector,” said EA’s CEO John Riccitiello.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Warfighter\u00a0received\u00a0some pretty polarising reviews<\/a>, although the mainstream gaming media slated it for its generic approach. MyGaming’s Gareth Thomas did find some good\u00a0among\u00a0all the rubble, in his Medal of Honor: Warfighter review<\/a>.<\/p>\n
