The lack of games on the SA iTunes store has been a topic of discussion since the local store launched in December 2012.<\/p>\n

When the store launched, there was a vacant gap where the games category should exist.<\/p>\n

In January 2013, eagle-eyed forumites on MyBroadband<\/a>\u00a0and SAgamer forums<\/a> even picked up a widget-tile that appeared on the SA iTunes store, although it linked to nothing and was removed shortly after.<\/p>\n

MyGaming contacted Apple, who remained quiet regarding the arrival of games on the SA store. An Apple rep responded:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have nothing to announce in terms of games coming to the App Store in South Africa.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Apple said they would inform MyGaming when something changes.<\/p>\n

The availability of games in iTunes remains a complicated affair. Current legislation means that games have to be submitted and classified\/rated by the Film and Publications Board (FPB)<\/a>. South Africa is only one of two countries in the world that insists on its own system of classification being used.<\/p>\n
