American McGee\u2019s next project, Akaneiro: Demon Hunters, has hit its Kickstarter goal of $200,000.<\/p>\n
Akaneiro is a free-to-play action-RPG that casts Little Red Riding Hood and her buddies as demon hunters pledged to the professional demon hunting Order of Akane, who must hunt all the demons in a local village.<\/p>\n
The Kickstarter campaign racked up over 2,600 backers, and managed to squeeze in another $4,000 past the goal.<\/p>\n
The next step on developer Spicy Horse\u2019s side is the delivery of campaign rewards, such as virtual items, like Karma.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe development team will begin work on their planning and we’ll post info about delivery dates ASAP,\u201d said American McGee on the Kickstarter page.<\/p>\n
When MyGaming asked American McGee what the Kickstarter initiative was focusing on, McGee said that it was to \u201caccelerate delivery of key features and platforms – like adding co-op multiplayer or bringing the game to Linux.\u201d<\/p>\n
McGee also said that the success of the Kickstarter campaign now allows for \u201cthe core development team [to be] focused on Akaneiro longer while they work to deliver the new platforms, devices and features outlined in the campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n
A beta of Akaneiro: Demon Hunters is currently free to play on the Spicy Horse website<\/a>, with the game set to arrive on Steam after being Greenlit by the community.<\/p>\n
