After seeing the disappointing reviews for the long-in-development Aliens: Colonial Marines<\/a>, we\u2019ve decided to have a look at the Alien Trilogy, Aliens vs Predator series, and Alien: Resurrection – as these are Alien games that don\u2019t suck.<\/p>\n

Alien Trilogy (PC, PS, Saturn – 1996) (Gamerankings: 77.50%)<\/h3>\n

The Alien trilogy was a first-person shooter that encompassed the first three Alien movies.<\/p>\n

Playing as film protagonist Lt. Ripley, the game thrusts you through creepy corridors and scary vents, and it was exhilarating when it first released in 1996.<\/p>\n

The game, while a little rough around the edges, really did capture the intensity and fear that the movies induced.<\/p>\n

Aliens Trilogy<\/p><\/div>\n

Aliens vs Predator (PC) (1999) (Gamerankings: 84.06%)<\/h3>\n

The Alien vs Predator series jumped into 3D in 1999 for the PC, and opened up a new feel and look for the series.<\/p>\n

Rebellion\u2019s game has gone down as one of the best PC games of its time, and gave gamers the chance to try out Predator\u2019s powerful alien weaponry and the Alien\u2019s ravaging moves, in addition to being a frightened and lonely marine.<\/p>\n

Aliens vs Predator<\/p><\/div>\n

Alien Resurrection (PS – 2000) (Metascore: 61)<\/h3>\n

While it may have been a shameless movie cash-in, Alien Resurrection was actually pretty damn good.<\/p>\n

The original Playstation\u2019s graphical capabilities allowed for an authentic (at the time) Alien experience. Fantastic lighting, level design and sound effects gave the creepy and claustrophobic feeling you\u2019d want from an Alien game.<\/p>\n

All the iconic weapons and characters make appearances too, which made Alien: Resurrection a pretty impressive, and downright, frightening experience.<\/p>\n

Alien Resurrection<\/p><\/div>\n

Aliens vs Predator 2 (PC – 2001) (Metascore: 85)<\/h3>\n

A sequel to such a highly acclaimed game always has a lot to do, and Aliens vs Predator 2 managed to do just that.<\/p>\n

The game revisited the intertwining story between the human, Alien and Predator storylines, and gave players new abilities and weapons that expanded on the first game.<\/p>\n

Multiplayer was also a highlight of AvP2, as three-way battle royales of the galaxy\u2019s finest pulled gamers into LAN rooms for years to come.<\/p>\n

Aliens vs. Predator 2<\/p><\/div>\n

Aliens vs. Predator (2010) (Metascore: 68)<\/h3>\n

The AvP series was rebooted in 2010, thanks to original developer Rebellion.<\/p>\n

While it wasn\u2019t the greatest in the series, the leap to current-gen consoles and PCs allowed for Rebellion to make use of the tech in order to create dynamic lighting, smart AI and impressive visuals in one of the scariest games around.<\/p>\n

Whether it\u2019s creeping through dimly light corridors as the marine, jumping from tree to tree as the Predator, or scuttling across ceilings and through vents as a Xenomorph, Alien vs. Predator really did give gamers a solid Alien experience.<\/p>\n
