{"id":50734,"date":"2013-02-18T15:47:34","date_gmt":"2013-02-18T13:47:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=50734"},"modified":"2013-02-18T15:50:04","modified_gmt":"2013-02-18T13:50:04","slug":"star-citizen-has-us8-million-pledged-to-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/50734-star-citizen-has-us8-million-pledged-to-development","title":{"rendered":"Star Citizen: US$8-million pledged to development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Star Citizen, the sci-fi space project from Wing Commander creator Chris Roberts, has reached its Kickstarter campaign goal, and now accumulated another $6 million from fans, which will allow the developers at Cloud Imperium Games to materialise their dreams.<\/p>\n<p>The Kickstarter campaign originally asked for $500,000, which was reached at the end of last year, as the campaign made over $2.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>The devs then took to their website, asking for any more donations to better the game. Another $6.2 million was pledged to the development of the game.<\/p>\n<p>Star Citizen is a pledge to return PC space sims back to their former glory, by offering a throwback to the classics, while introducing the genre to a new generation of gamers.
