In the land of PC, Steam has reigned supreme as the digital download platform leader for many years. Obviously not wanting to be left out of the revenue share, or miss an opportunity to integrate crummy DRM, both EA and Ubisoft have launched their own online stores, in the forms of Origin and Uplay respectively.<\/p>\n
EA has announced that Ubisoft titles are now available to purchase and download through Origin, kicking off with titles such as Assassin\u2019s Creed III, Far Cry 3 and Tom Clancy\u2019s Splinter Cell Conviction.<\/p>\n
Likewise, Ubisoft has announced that EA titles are now available to download through the Uplay store, starting with Dead Space 3, FIFA Soccer 13, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Mass Effect 3, and The Sims 3.<\/p>\n
Personally, I only use either of those “platforms” because I am forced to. Looking at their pricing, there is simply no reason to be purchasing games via either Origin or Uplay at this stage. Perhaps if they can begin to offer competitive prices and bundles, I’ll give it a second thought.<\/p>\n
