Reputable international gaming news site CVG<\/a> claims that a senior UK trade source revealed to them that Activision has scheduled the release of Call of Duty 7 for November this year.<\/p>\n

As expected the game will be developed by Treyarch, and furthermore, CVG claims that their source has confirmed that the game will – in accordance with rumours – be set in the Vietnam War. The game will apparently draw heavily from iconic movies such as Apocalypse Now and Platoon.<\/p>\n

Rumours<\/a> first emerged that the game would adopt this setting last year when reports  surfaced that the developer was licensing iconic music from the era.<\/p>\n

VGC published the following quotes, both taken from unnamed industry insiders:<\/p>\n

“It’s going to be November again – just as with World at War and Modern Warfare 2.”<\/p>\n

“Activision believes that it can own Christmas 2010, just as it has in the last two years.”<\/p>\n

“Development is on course – and Treyarch have been told the game must be ready to hit shelves before the gifting season.”<\/p>\n

Publisher Activision has not commented on the rumours, leading to further speculation that because they are not denying them, they are probably true. Indeed, the rumour has gathered so much momentum that one gets the feeling that if it turns out to be false it will cause more disappointment than anything else.<\/p>\n

Placing the game in Vietnam would be a bold direction for the series, and would be Treyarch’s first step away from the overdone World War setting in which most of the Call of Duty games have taken place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
