Screenshots can look pretty realistic these days, however, it\u2019s good to not mistake them for real photos.<\/span><\/p>\n

Danish news channel TV2 unfortunately fell for this, and used a screenshot from Assassin\u2019s Creed during a report about Syria.<\/p>\n

The station’s head of news, Jacob Nybroe, was quick to issue an apology, saying that it\u2019s \u201ca reminder to us all of the importance of verifying the sources of pictures.\u201d<\/p>\n

True words Mr. Nybroe, as this is not the first time that a video game asset has been accidentally used in the mainstream news, as the BBC used Halo\u2019s United Nations Space Command logo instead of the official United Nations Security Council\u2019s<\/a>. Awkward.<\/p>\n

If looking at it with a positive spin, it could be seen as a testament to how good Ubisoft\u2019s recreations of iconic locations are. Maybe the next news story on Somali pirates will feature some Assassin\u2019s Creed IV screenshots<\/a>.<\/p>\n
