Polytron’s charming puzzle-platformer Fez has broken free of its XBLA exclusivity and is now headed for Steam with a 1 May 2013 release date. There is currently no price, and therefore no pre-order option currently available.<\/p>\n
Fez has won numerous industry accolades celebrating it’s awesome indie-ness, including “Excellence in Visual Art” award at the Independent Games Festival in 2008, Story\/World Design and Grand Jury, at IndieCade in 2011, and “Seamus McNally Grand Prize” at the Independent Games Festival in 2012.<\/p>\n
Aside from the visuals, the 2D puzzle-platformer uses a unique mechanic to rotate its world in a 3D plane, thereby revealing hidden and inaccessible areas, or completely changing the dynamic of a level.<\/p>\n
Quinton thought it was a cracker when he reviewed Fez on Xbox 360<\/a>, saying:<\/p>\n Fez is just one of those games \u2013 and I hate to use this expression \u2013 that needs to be \u201cexperienced\u201d more than played.<\/p>\n There\u2019s nothing here that it expressly challenging or daunting \u2013 but at the same time, it\u2019s probably more memorable that the countless shooters out there.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n For now you can gaze longingly at the Fez Steam Store page<\/a> until it launches.<\/p>\n
