{"id":52533,"date":"2013-04-04T13:43:00","date_gmt":"2013-04-04T11:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=52533"},"modified":"2013-04-04T14:51:06","modified_gmt":"2013-04-04T12:51:06","slug":"mweb-dota-2-championship-on-the-road-to-national-team-trials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/52533-mweb-dota-2-championship-on-the-road-to-national-team-trials","title":{"rendered":"MWEB Dota 2 championship on the road to National Team trials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MSSA has announced that 10ten Gaming are hosting the 2013 MWEB Online Dota 2 Championship, which will offer local Dota 2 players the opportunity to qualify for the National Team trials.<\/p>\n<p>Dota 2 players in South Africa will have the opportunity to get full Protea Colours for the game and represent the country in an official Test Match against Romania.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With Romania ranked 3rd out of 33 countries in the IeSF world rankings (SA is ranked 16th), we\u2019re going to need the best players to answer the challenge,&#8221; said Colin Webster, MSSA president.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Tournament Structure<\/h3>\n<p><strong>MSSA rules<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If less than six teams, the championship shall be a Round Robin Championship<\/li>\n<li>If 6 to 10 teams the championship shall be four rounds as played to the Swiss System<\/li>\n<li>If 11 to 30 teams the championship shall be five rounds as played to the Swiss System<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Any player who is a Registered Player affiliated to a MSSA member club may enter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Entry fee<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Entry is free to all full-paid-up Registered Players.<\/li>\n<li>Only fully-paid-up Registered Players may participate in this event.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Entry date<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Entries need to be submitted by no later than Tuesday, 16 April 2013.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Medals<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>PREMIER: Medals shall be awarded to the first three teams.<\/li>\n<li>UNIVERSITY:Medals shall be awarded to the first three teams that have not won a Premier medal and which are comprised entirely of students currently registered at any officially recognised University.<\/li>\n<li>SCHOLARS: Medals shall be awarded to the first three teams of learners currently registered at any officially recognised school, provided they have not received any Premier medals.<\/li>\n<li>WOMEN: A Medal will be awarded to the first woman&#8217;s team that did not receive any other medal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Colours<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Protea Colours: Only Players that are selected to represent South Africa in International Championships may earn National Colours if the Protea Colours Board&#8217;s criteria are met.<\/li>\n<li>National Colours: All Players that win all of their Matches at a National Championship will earn National Colours.<\/li>\n<li>Provincial Colours: All Players that win all of their Matches at a Provincial Championship will earn Provincial Colours. All Players who score within the top 50% in a specific Period at a Provincial Championship, and who also score <strong>within the top 50% at a National Championship in the same period and in the same year, will earn Provincial Colours.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>When and Where<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>20 April 2013<\/li>\n<li>The first round will start at 14H00. Players shall be given 90 minutes to complete each round.<\/li>\n<li>The tournament will run via the MWEB server<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Accreditation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The championship is accredited as being of the same status as a provincial championship. This means that the championship shall be used for the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The awarding of provincial colours;<\/li>\n<li>The awarding of medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in Premier, Under 24, and School categories;<\/li>\n<li>The ability to qualify for National Team Trials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note that the MSSA shall be selecting a team to officially represent South Africa in a test match against Romania. From such championships, invites shall be sent out to the Registered Players of the teams that finish in the top three or the top 20% (whichever is greater) as per the Regulations. As per the Regulations all such players who qualify from the genre as a whole shall be invited. However, the Trials shall be held after the championship on 6 April 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The Registered Players that enter the Trials shall organise themselves into teams that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All come from the same area.
