After smashing through its launch goal of US$900,000 within hours, Torment: Tides of Numenera has gone on to secure US$4,188,927 in pledges and setting a new record for the most funded game on Kickstarter.<\/p>\n
A notable stretch was also reached recently, with Planescape: Torment lead designer Chris Avallone joining the inXile team.<\/p>\n
The development is lead by Brian Fargo, a legend in his own right, having been involved in games such as The Bard\u2019s Tale, Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, Battle Chess, Castles, the original Wasteland and its spiritual successor, Fallout, and Kickstarter success story Wasteland 2.<\/p>\n
Colin McComb and Monte Cook, original developers of the Planescape setting are on board as creative leads. It is Monte Cook\u2019s new tabletop RPG setting, Numenera<\/a>, that is the basis for this new title \u2013 Torment: Tides of Numenera.<\/p>\n Speaking to the revolutionary power of Kickstarter to change the way the games industry looks at getting games made, Brian Fargo said: “There is no way this game would have ever been funded without this new method of connection and without the passion of our backers who didn\u2019t just donate but worked as a team to spread the word. You guys rock! The passion of the RPG gamer is like none other.”<\/p>\n
