Seacom announced in a press statement today (15 April 2013) that the cable break that has plagued it since 22 March 2013 is expected to be fixed early next week.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe repair vessel has been commissioned to the repair site and…the estimated time of repair is 22 April 2013,\u201d Seacom said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis [repair date] will be confirmed once the vessel reaches the location of the expected break and the team has assessed the damage to the subsea cable system.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seacom experienced a major outage last month when a number of partner cables in the Mediterranean Sea went offline due to breaks in the cables.<\/p>\n

By 30 March 2013 Seacom announced that it had secured enough capacity on other routes to fully restore the services of their customers.<\/p>\n

These customers include Internet service providers (ISPs) and companies that provide services to ISPs.<\/p>\n

Seacom has warned that dates are subject to change depending on weather conditions, and that they will provide updates as further information becomes available.<\/p>\n
