Ster Kinekor Entertainment, the official distributor of Playstation products in South Africa, has responded to queries from MWEB surrounding the possibility of an SA mirror for Playstation Network content.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are a vast number of criteria and dynamics involved which SKE are addressing, however, it is evident that there is not a planned roll out of localised solutions in the immediate future,\u201d said SKE.<\/p>\n
This means that SA gamers will still have to access their PSN content through EU (or US) download points.<\/p>\n
SKE did emphasise that it had expressed the need and concern for PSN content to be mirrored on local servers.<\/p>\n
“SKE have had a number of discussions with SCEE [Sony Computer Entertainment Europe] in regard to this and in summary they are hopeful that they will eventually get to local solutions but SCEE\u2019s focus is in on far more strategic initiatives at present,\u201d said SKE.<\/p>\n
\u201cSKE did advise that they too have seen the advantage of a locally hosted solution for their audience and have engaged at various levels with the team at Sony Computer Entertainment to understand their strategic direction in this regard.\u201d<\/p>\n
