A 22-year old German filmmaker put together a 6-minute sci-fi film that has got the attention of some big-name Hollywood minds.<\/p>\n
Kaleb Lechowski is the talented filmmaker behind the short, R\u2019ha, which is fully computer animated and features some impressive voice acting. The entire short was written, directed and put together by Lechowski, who only used the talent of Dave Masterson for the voice acting.<\/p>\n
R\u2019ha shows just a glimpse of a story which revolves around AI-controlled machines rising up against their alien creators, and destroying their planet in the process.<\/p>\n
The actual scene created is an interrogation moment between the alien captive and the robot interrogator.<\/p>\n
Lechowski\u2019s film has caught the attention of Scott Glassgold, from IAM Sports & Entertainment, due to its quality and scale. \u201cHis work is not only professional, it’s extraordinary,” said. “There are shots in there that look like they are from a 150-million-dollar movie.”<\/p>\n
Lechowski himself said that he loves working with sci-fi themes, and enjoys making the projects on his own. \u201cYou can create almost anything, like creatures, machines, you can create worlds, you can create basically everything,\u201d said the 22-year old.<\/p>\n
The young filmmaker has ambitions of expanding the R\u2019ha project, but obviously needs the time and resources to do so. “It’s just a question of time, I think,” he says. “If one would say I have 10 years of time to make a full feature out of it, I could do it my own, I guess. But that’s not what I want to do.”<\/p>\n
Hollywood could step in and help Lechowski, as with what happened with Alive in Joburg, a short from director Neil Bloemkamp, which essentially became the big-budget District 9.<\/p>\n
