A 14-year old has admitted to cutting the throat of a 13-year old friend, following a dispute over Gears of War 3.<\/p>\n
The two boys met each other online through playing Gears of War 3 together, however, after they met in person, the friendship broke down to “name-calling via the messaging system used in the game.”<\/p>\n
The boys then met up once again, with the 14-year old, who is also a father,\u00a0slashing the throat of his former friend.<\/p>\n
The victim required staples and surgery, and is traumatised following the attack.<\/p>\n
Of course, the game will be blamed for the incident, as the prosecuting officer told the court that \u201cviolent video games played online by the accused may have been a factor in his conduct\u201d.<\/p>\n
“These games are rated 18 and shouldn\u2019t be played by children of this young age – but online gaming may be outside their parents\u2019 knowledge,” the chairman of the Scottish Police Federation said. “We need to look again at what we can do to stop this.”<\/p>\n
The accused, now 16-years old, is being trialled, with a possible sentence uncertain.<\/p>\n
