An EA South Africa rep has contacted us, only to say “Unfortunately I cannot comment on your query” regarding the closure of EA South Africa.<\/p>\n

LazyGamer is reporting that Electronic Arts South Africa will be closing its local offices, according to its industry sources.<\/p>\n

According to the report, EA South Africa staff have been retrenched, but have been “‘looked after’ quite nicely in the form of compensation”.<\/p>\n

MyGaming contacted EA South Africa to confirm this report, and while a senior EA representative did take our call, they could not discuss the report as they were busy with a meeting.<\/p>\n

When asked “is the [LazyGamer] report factual?”, the EA South Africa rep said “I wouldn’t say that,” before heading into the meeting.<\/p>\n

We await more information from EA South Africa as to what exactly is happening with the local arm of the global mega-publisher, and official word on whether the SA division is closing down entirely.<\/p>\n
