Every gamer, deep down inside, wishes they had a handheld gaming console when they find themselves sitting awkwardly, waiting for a doctor\u2019s appointment, at the licensing department or whatever other mundane thing you may have to be patient for.<\/p>\n
If your mobile phone isn\u2019t doing it for you anymore, there are two options \u2013 the Playstation Vita and the Nintendo 3DS \u2013 but are they actually worth purchasing?<\/p>\n
We had a look at the PS Vita \u2013 the WiFi and 3G editions – and have rounded up the best prices for the devices. We also had a look at the current game library for the console to see if it warrants a purchase.<\/p>\n
Other retailers were considered and looked at, however, their prices were either outdated or the product out of stock.<\/p>\n
Please note:<\/strong> These prices are correct at time of posting.<\/p>\n Keep in mind when buying a PS Vita you\u2019ll need a memory card \u2013 and a Sony PSVita memory card to be exact. They range from around R200 (for the 4GB) to R450 (for the 16GB).<\/p>\n As for the games, there aren\u2019t loads worth playing, but there are a handful that are impressive on the system. These include Rayman Origins, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Mortal Kombat, and Assassin\u2019s Creed: Liberation.<\/p>\n These games retail for between R400 – R500, but there are used-game stores that will have these titles.<\/p>\n Some of the older, but worth-playing games, such as FIFA 13 and Resistance: Burning Skies, retail for under R300.<\/p>\n As for the future of Vita games, we can look forward to Rayman Legends, Killzone Mercenary, Batman: Arkham Origins, Tearaway and the Jack and Daxter Trilogy.<\/p>\n The talk around the MyGaming office regarding the PS Vita has always been positive. We\u2019ve always been in awe of its gorgeous screen and great control layout, but that said, we have also always been sceptical on its release schedule.<\/p>\n There just aren\u2019t that many games. However, the system is slowly building up a decent library.<\/p>\n The future of the PS Vita is looking bright on the incoming PS4, where the Vita will become an enhanced controller for use with the PS4 console, even streaming gameplay to the Vita from the PS4 when the household TV is otherwise occupied.<\/p>\n If E3 2013 can bring some new announcements, along with another slip in price, then there\u2019s no reason not to pick up a WiFi Vita.<\/p>\n PS Vita price cut revealed<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n Bioshock for Vita stuck in \u201cpaper design\u201d stage<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n
