{"id":5447,"date":"2010-02-23T11:03:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-23T09:03:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"valve-knocks-shitty-motion-control-party-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/5447-valve-knocks-shitty-motion-control-party-games","title":{"rendered":"Valve knocks \u201cshitty\u201d motion control party games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It seems unlikely that fans of Valve franchises such as Left 4 Dead will be able to enjoy some first person action via motion control anytime soon following the remarks Valve writer Chet Faliszek recently made to <a href=\" http:\/\/www.computerandvideogames.com\/article.php?id=235859\" target=\"_blank\">CVG.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Faliszek, whose history lies primarily within the acclaimed zombie franchise Left 4 Dead, labelled Nintendo&rsquo;s market capturing titles as &#8220;sh*tty&#8221; motion control party games &ndash; this is despite his company of employment showing an active interest in the possibilities Xbox 360&rsquo;s Project Natal may present for developers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hopefully we&#8217;ve gotten past the point of mini-games,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I&#8217;m sick of that [makes arm movement]. That&#8217;s not a game for me anymore. Let&#8217;s get some real interaction going.<\/p>\n<p>Instead Faliszek encouraged designers to rethink how the motion control interface may work and relate to games in the future adding that it would be easy to simply apply a basic template based on previous models.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have these technologies now that let us interact in different, really exciting ways. It&#8217;s developers&#8217; jobs to do something with it. Impress me. Don&#8217;t just make sh*tty games I wouldn&#8217;t want to play if I had to use a joystick.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When asked if Valve would consider incorporating Project Natal into the interface for titles such as Left 4 Dead or Left 4 Dead 2 Faliszek assured gamers that if such a project went ahead it would be vastly different from what they might expect.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ll see. You won&#8217;t have to make the arm movement of sawing off a zombie&#8217;s head in some tiresome mini-game.
