Digital Extremes\u2019 free-to-play PC shooter Warframe has been confirmed to be slashing and firing its way to Playstation 4.<\/p>\n
The game\u2019s creative director, Steve Sinclair, confirmed the platform jump to Sony\u2019s upcoming console successor.<\/p>\n
\u201cSony caught wind of [Warframe], and said, \u2018hey, what do you think of bringing it over to PlayStation 4?\u2019, and we were very surprised to hear that,\u201d said Sinclair.<\/p>\n
The director was impressed with Sony\u2019s support, and further explained that developing for the PS4 was a great experience for the team.<\/p>\n
[PlayStation 4], in my opinion, is incredible to develop for. It is awesome, and I don\u2019t want to speak disparagingly about any existing or prior platforms, but we showed Warframe for the first time to our entire studio, and everyone had their jaws on the floor, how 1080p, silky smooth and beautiful it was. So, I\u2019m really, really enjoying working on the machine,\u201d added Sinclair.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope we can make [free-to-play] attractive for the console audience\u2026 Instead of dropping 60 bucks on a six hour game, [a person] might drop a few bucks here and there on our game, which gives some of our players 500 hours of entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n
Digital Extremes previously worked on The Darkness II, Dark Sector and the recent Star Trek game, and Warframe is picking up a substantial fan base with its over-the-top sci-fi close-quarters and ranged combat.<\/p>\n
